Frequently asked

Oil & Filter Changes questions

How often should I change my oil?+

For most modern engines running full synthetic, oil change intervals of 5,000 miles are a safe, conservative target — some manufacturers extend to 7,500 or even 10,000 miles, but heat, short trips, and direct-injection fuel dilution all push the practical interval shorter. Conventional oil, where still appropriate, typically wants 3,000–4,000 miles. Severe-duty conditions — towing, dusty roads, frequent short trips that don't fully warm the engine — call for the shorter end of whichever range applies to your oil type.

Is full synthetic worth it?+

For almost every vehicle built in the last 10–15 years, full synthetic is worth it and is often required by the manufacturer. Synthetic flows more easily at cold start (when most engine wear actually happens), holds up far better under the high temperatures of modern small-displacement turbocharged engines, and resists chemical breakdown long enough to support extended drain intervals. Using conventional oil in an engine spec'd for synthetic can shorten engine life and even void warranty coverage.

How long does an oil change take?+

Most oil changes are completed in 30–45 minutes, including a multi-point inspection of tires, brakes, fluids, belts, and suspension. We offer wait appointments with a comfortable lobby, and we'll let you know about anything we find rather than starting unauthorized work. If something needs immediate attention, we'll explain why and quote it before doing anything beyond the oil change.
