Frequently asked

Electrical System questions

Why does my car have multiple electrical problems?+

When several electrical systems misbehave at once, the cause is usually a single shared point of failure — most often a corroded body ground, a damaged junction block, or a failing Body Control Module. Modern vehicles route dozens of circuits through a handful of grounds and connectors, so one bad connection can affect lighting, windows, locks, and gauges all at the same time. We use wiring diagrams to find that common point and repair it once, rather than chasing individual symptoms.

What is a parasitic drain?+

A parasitic drain is current flowing out of the battery while the car is fully shut down — anything above roughly 50 milliamps after the modules have gone to sleep is considered a problem. We measure total drain at the battery, then pull fuses one at a time while watching the meter to identify which circuit is responsible, and finally narrow it down to the specific component on that circuit. Common culprits include aftermarket accessories, stuck relays, failed amplifiers, and modules that refuse to go to sleep due to a software glitch.

Can you fix a car that got wet inside?+

Yes — water intrusion is one of the most common causes of strange, intermittent electrical problems, and it shows up after flood exposure, sunroof drain blockages, windshield-cowl leaks, and failed door boots. We locate the source of the leak first (otherwise the damage repeats), then dry out the affected area, clean corroded connectors, and repair or replace damaged modules and harnesses. We're honest about cases where the damage is severe enough that the smart choice is replacement rather than repair.
