Texas Lutheran University is a small liberal-arts college in Seguin — the only Lutheran-affiliated university in the Southwest — known for its intimate campus, strong sciences, and championship athletics.
What makes it special
TLU traces its roots to 1891, when a small Lutheran academy was founded in Brenham, Texas. The school moved to Seguin in 1912 and grew steadily into the residential liberal-arts university it is today, with about 1,400 students spread across a walkable, oak-shaded campus a few blocks from downtown.
The campus is anchored by classic red-brick academic buildings, a chapel, and the Weston E. Krueger Field where the Bulldogs — a perennial NCAA Division III power in football and softball — play their home games. TLU has won national titles in softball and consistently ranks near the top of its conference in most sports.
Academically, TLU is best known for its sciences, business, and music programs, plus a strong tradition of graduating students into medical, law, and seminary programs.
