Georgetown's downtown square — often called 'The Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas' — surrounds the 1911 Williamson County Courthouse with restored Victorian storefronts.

What makes it special
Georgetown's downtown square is one of the most intact 19th-century courthouse squares in Texas and is listed in its entirety on the National Register of Historic Places. The centerpiece is the 1911 Williamson County Courthouse, a Beaux-Arts limestone building topped with a clock tower and dome — fully restored in 2007 and still in active use.
The four sides of the square are lined with late-1800s Victorian-era storefronts: Monument Cafe, the Palace Theatre (a restored 1926 movie house), local boutiques, wine bars, and the kind of independent bookstore-and-coffee combination college towns are known for.
Each April the square hosts the Red Poppy Festival — Texas's official Red Poppy City celebration — which closes the streets for three days of live music, art, and a poppy-themed parade.
