Tech Ridge is a major North Austin business and retail center off I-35 and Parmer Lane, originally developed around Samsung Austin Semiconductor and now a mix of offices, shopping, and apartments.
What makes it special
Tech Ridge grew up in the 1990s around Samsung Austin Semiconductor's first major fab on East Parmer Lane — for years one of the largest single foreign investments in the United States. The surrounding land was developed into office space, retail, and apartments to serve the fab's workforce and the broader north-Austin tech corridor that grew up with it.
Today Tech Ridge includes the Tech Ridge Center retail complex (Walmart, Best Buy, Target nearby), several Class A office buildings, a number of mid-rise apartment communities, and easy access to both I-35 and Toll 130.
Many Tech Ridge employees end up living north in Pflugerville or Hutto — close enough to work but with more space and better schools — and that commute brings them right past our shop.
