Typhoon Texas is a 25-acre, Texas-themed family waterpark in Pflugerville with wave pools, slides, a lazy river, and a giant FlowRider surf simulator.
What makes it special
Typhoon Texas opened in May 2016 just off SH 130 as a locally-owned alternative to the bigger national chains. The owners explicitly designed it around Texas heritage — every attraction has a Lone Star name, the food menu leans on Texas barbecue and Tex-Mex, and the staff uniforms read more 'state park ranger' than 'theme park.'
Headline attractions include the 60-foot 'Tornado' funnel slide, the Lone Star Lagoon wave pool, the FlowRider double-surf simulator, and a lazy river that loops the property. There's also a dedicated kids' area for under-6 swimmers.
The park operates seasonally from spring through early fall and is one of the easier summer outings if you live north of Austin — and if a long, hot day in the sun leaves a check-engine light on the drive home, you know who to call.
