Stillhouse Hollow Lake is a 6,400-acre US Army Corps of Engineers reservoir south of Killeen, known for clear water, striper fishing, and rugged Hill Country shoreline.

What makes it special
Stillhouse Hollow was created in 1968 when the Corps of Engineers dammed the Lampasas River for flood control and water supply. The result is one of the clearest lakes in Central Texas — limestone bedrock keeps the water remarkably blue, especially compared to the muddier reservoirs east of I-35.
The lake covers 6,400 acres at conservation pool and is bordered by several Corps parks, including Dana Peak Park on the north shore and Union Grove Park on the south. Dana Peak is the most popular: hiking trails, mountain-bike loops, a swim area, and a boat ramp all in one place.
Fishing is the headline activity. Stillhouse is one of the best lakes in Texas for striper and white bass, plus very good largemouth bass and catfish — the clear water means anglers actually sight-fish in places, which is unusual for a Central Texas reservoir.
