Auto repair near Historic Downtown Bastrop.
Historic Downtown Bastrop is one of the most intact 19th-century downtowns in Texas, a National Register district along the Colorado River with restored storefronts and the 1883 Bastrop Opera House.

What makes it special
Bastrop is one of the oldest Anglo-settled towns in Texas. Stephen F. Austin's colonists arrived in the early 1830s, and the town was formally laid out in 1832 — four years before Texas independence. That history is still legible on the ground: the original street grid is essentially unchanged, and the downtown contains more than 130 historic structures listed on the National Register.
The cornerstone is the 1883 Bastrop Opera House, a restored two-story Victorian theater that still hosts live productions year-round. Around it: independent bookstores, antique shops, the Bastrop County Museum, riverside restaurants on the Colorado, and the Bastrop County Courthouse just a block away.
Downtown also serves as a base for visitors to nearby Bastrop State Park and the Lost Pines — making it one of the busiest small-town main streets within an hour of Austin.
