Auto repair near Downtown Taylor.
Downtown Taylor is a National Register historic district built around the old MKT railroad line, lined with late-1800s brick storefronts and a rapidly growing food and arts scene.

What makes it special
Taylor was founded in 1876 as a railroad town along the Missouri–Kansas–Texas (Katy) line, and downtown still has the bones of that era — wide streets, multi-story brick warehouses, and old loading docks tucked between storefronts. Much of the district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The downtown's most famous tenant is Louie Mueller Barbecue, opened in 1949 and a James Beard 'America's Classics' award winner — the kind of smoke-stained dining room that food writers fly in for. Surrounding it: the Howard Theatre live-music venue, Black Sparrow Music Parlor, antique stores, a growing cluster of new restaurants, and the Heritage Square farmers market.
The state has designated downtown Taylor a Texas Cultural District, and with the Samsung campus pulling new residents into the area, it's one of the fastest-evolving small downtowns in the region.
