Auto repair near Downtown Kyle.
Downtown Kyle is a compact historic district centered on Center Street and the old Kyle railroad depot, with restored brick storefronts and the Katherine Anne Porter House museum a few blocks away.

What makes it special
Kyle was founded in 1880 as a stop on the International–Great Northern Railroad and named for Fergus Kyle, a former Texas Ranger who donated the townsite land. The original grid of blocks around Center Street and the depot still forms the heart of downtown today.
The Kyle depot itself has been carefully preserved and now serves as a small local history museum. A few blocks off Center Street, the Katherine Anne Porter House — where the Pulitzer Prize-winning author spent much of her childhood — has been restored and operates as a literary museum through Texas State University.
Downtown Kyle has been through a real revival in the last decade, with a growing lineup of family restaurants, cafés, and craft breweries, and events like Founders Day and the Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival keeping the historic core busy.
