Auto repair near 1st Cavalry Division Museum.
The 1st Cavalry Division Museum at Fort Cavazos preserves the history of 'The First Team,' tracing the unit from horse cavalry on the western frontier to modern armored operations.

What makes it special
The 1st Cavalry Division was organized in 1921 as the Army's first permanent cavalry division and has fought in every major American conflict since World War II. The museum on Fort Cavazos was established in 1971 to preserve that history — uniforms, weapons, photographs, personal letters, and full-size vehicles.
Inside the museum, exhibits trace the division from horseback patrols on the western frontier through World War II in the Pacific, Korea, Vietnam (where the division pioneered air-mobile helicopter operations), Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, and Afghanistan.
Outside, the Cooper Field 'tank park' displays decades of armored vehicles, artillery, and helicopters in the open air — including UH-1 Hueys that flew in Vietnam and Cold War-era tanks. Admission is free; valid ID and access through the Fort Cavazos visitor center are required.
