My car won't start — what's likely wrong?

Short answer:The three most common causes are a weak battery, a failing starter, or a fuel/spark issue. A proper diagnosis at Labor Only Auto Repair takes about 30-60 minutes.

No crank, no click: usually a dead or disconnected battery. If jumping it gets you started, the battery is either at end of life or the alternator isn't charging it — both need testing to know which.

Cranks slowly or clicks rapidly: weak battery or bad starter. Cranks normally but won't fire: usually a fuel delivery problem (bad fuel pump, plugged filter, empty tank sensor lying to you) or an ignition/spark issue (bad coils, plugs, crank position sensor). Modern anti-theft systems can also lock out fuel or spark if there's a security fault.

Our no-start diagnostic checks battery state of charge and health, cranking amperage, fuel pressure, spark, and computer communication. That usually pinpoints the failure in under an hour, so you get a fixed-cost repair estimate instead of a parade of replaced parts.
